About the event
Making Lemon-Aid's Refuge Initiative was born out of a passion and commitment to meet the immediate and real-time needs of girls in Douglas and Sarpy Counties who have been rescued from trafficking for commercial sex. The Refuge will serve as a sanctuary, offering crucial evidence-based, trauma-informed, faith-based programming that supports healing . Our program stands as a pioneering effort in the state of Nebraska, offering a home-like nurturing environment for girls, ages 12-17 with complex needs.
Our second annual Brunch Gala, "This One's For the Girls" will feature a keynote speaker, Karla Solomon along with live music and benefitting this special effort. Today, Karla is a wife and mother. She is also an overcomer, and trafficking survivor willing to share the gruesome details of her story to be a resource to those who seek the truth about human trafficking.
